No more minor royal engagements (Point 3)

A great deal of money would be saved if the ‘public engagements’ carried out by minor royals were discontinued. These engagements are completely unnecessary. The Queen should attend great national events as Head of State. The rest of her family should get on with their lives and stay out of the limelight.

Cost of royal security
Vast sums are expended, by the Metropolitan Police in particular, on providing protection for members of the royal family. Such expenditure should come under the direct control and scrutiny of Parliament.
Mr Kattegat is right about the Queen's relatives carrying out unnecessary engagements. We don’t need to have a string of royal relatives travelling about the country at public expense for no good reason. Taxpayers’ money spent on royal relatives' travelling expenses and security means less for schools, hospitals, care for the elderly etc.
The minor royals are wealthy beyond most people’s dreams and if they think they need personal protection they should pay for it themselves.
