Charles's meddling in architecture (Point 4)

I'm fed up with Charles abusing his position & interfering in the planning procedures which are supposed to be part of our democratic system of government. Nobody ever elected him, and I doubt whether he would stand much chance of being elected to any public position. He should follow his mother's example and keep out of controversial issues.

Shoots his mouth off, but frightened of debate

Charles’s recent interference in the Chelsea Barracks project illustrates the way in which he wants to have it both ways.

1) He had no scruples about using his position and royal connections to affect the outcome of the Chelsea planning application 2) When the architect Lord Roger took him to task  the Clarence House PR machine announced: ‘We don’t want to get into a debate with Lord Rogers.’

Despite the rule that royals shouldn't interfere in public affairs, Charles keeps poking his nose into contentious issues. When challenged to debate his views on these he takes refuge in his status as the heir to the throne: he couldn't possibly sully himself with the vulgar and messy business of discussion and argument.

The man who would set the world to rights

The prince is a sad case. A man of modest education and intellect, surrounded by sycophants, who is deluded into thinking that he is a ‘Wise Man’, 'The Sage of Highgrove’, or even ‘The Light of the World’!

Someone should tell him the truth. He could then leave the serious thinking to people who have achieved pre-eminence in their professional field, prove their intellectual credentials to their peers on a daily basis, and are prepared to have their ideas and proposals tested in the cut and thrust of open debate.
